The event continues until Tuesday, the 23rd, at the Vasco Vasques Convention Center

Manaus (AM) – The second day of the 3rd State Culture Conference takes place this Monday (22) with the continuation of the debate on public policies aimed at the cultural sphere and the other thematic axes that are the basis of the event. The meeting continues until this Tuesday (23), at the Vasco Vasques Convention Center in Manaus.

The Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of Amazonas, Marcos Apolo Muniz, highlights that the Conference is relevant not only regionally, but also plays an important role in decisions at the national level.

“The debates that take place at this event will be taken to the National Conference, which takes place in March, and will result in contributions to the creation of the National Culture Plan”,

stressed the secretary.

The meeting brings together the artistic class, culture makers, civil society and more than 150 delegates elected and approved in the interior of the state and in the capital to participate in debates on the direction of culture in the coming years.

The six thematic axes that guide the debates are Institutionalization, Legal Frameworks and National Cultural System; Democratization of Access to Culture and Social Participation; Identity, Heritage and Memory; Cultural Diversity and Transversalities of Gender, Race and Accessibility in Cultural Policy; Creative Economy, Work, Income and Sustainability and Right to Digital Arts and Languages.

From each of these six thematic axes, two proposals will be drawn to be taken to the public authorities and to the 4th National Culture Conference, which will be held between the 4th and 8th of March, in Brasília.

For Marcelo Dias, culture analyst at the Ministry of Culture (MinC) office, the event is a channel of expression for society in general.

“Almost 700 people are gathered here on this second day, and these people will give their impressions, their needs, and evaluate what dialogue they have with the public authorities, and also with the class itself, which is organized civil society, which is found here through the State Council of Culture”,

said Marcelo.

The event is promoted by the State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, and receives support from the State Council of Culture, UEA, State Tourism Company of Amazonas (Amazonastur), Ministry of Culture (MinC) and Federal Government . The State Conference is, in fact, just one of the stages in the process that leads to the 4th National Culture Conference, which takes place from March 4th to 8th.

Prior to this stage, the Municipal Culture Conferences took place, which could encompass several municipalities in the interior of Amazonas. This is what Maick Soares, president of the Forum of Secretaries and Coordinators of Culture of Amazonas and secretary of Culture of Urucurituba, highlights.

“We have a different geography than other states and this needs to be taken into account. Our specificities, our regionalism. The presence of the interior, also, in the debate, with the issue of the implementation of municipal culture systems, the CPFs of culture, which are the Councils, Plans and Funds of Culture, is essential for us to increasingly strengthen municipal policies , the cultural policies of the municipalities”,

declared Maick Soares.

“It is a democratic process. We give people the opportunity to participate. This effectively comes from society, from civil society. We resolve them harmoniously and reach a consensus on what is best for the entire State”,

concluded the Secretary of Culture of Amazonas, Marcos Apolo Muniz.
