Parintins Festival has tickets for sale; see prices – 01/23/2024 – Tourism

Almost 400 kilometers from Manaus, the Parintins Festival, which has been taking place since 1965 in the municipality of Parintins – known as the island of magic –, features a contest between the Garantido and Caprichoso oxen. The 57th edition takes place between June 28th and 30th this year and tickets are available for purchase from 10am (Brasília time) on February 1st. Sales open simultaneously on the internet and at physical Amazon Best ticket points.

Passports, of the full type, for the three nights of the event vary between R$2,400, for seat type 2, and R$4,000, for the central grandstand, and can be paid in up to six interest-free installments on credit cards. There is a limit of three passports per CPF and there are no tickets for just one day of performances. In 2023, tickets sold out in 1h15.

The Parintins Festival is based on a rivalry that began around a hundred years ago, when two large groups began to represent the boi-bumbá folklore on the streets. In Amazonas, the celebration brings legends and rituals from the indigenous ethnicities and popular culture of the region. In 2018, it was recognized as Brazil’s cultural heritage by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan).

Each boi has 2 hours and 30 minutes to perform each night, with a 45-minute break between each bumbá’s performances. Garantido uses red, and Caprichoso uses blue.

The festival starts at 9 pm (Brasília time) at Bumbódromo, the stage for the disputes built by the government of Amazonas in 1988, and ends around 2:30 am. The winner’s decision is made by 10 judges.
