The office of lawyer Cristiano Zanin, appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the position of Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), received R$ 1.2 million during the PT election campaign in 2022.

According to Lula’s rendering of accounts provided to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Zanin’s office received the funds in a single installment on August 16 for “lawyer services” for the president’s campaign (see full text). In addition to Zanin, other law firms received substantial funds from the campaign, such as Aragão e Ferraro (R$ 1.2 million) and Araújo, Recchia, Santos Sociedade de Advogadas (R$ 500 thousand) also under the heading of “services attorneys”.

Lula’s campaign resources came from the Electoral Fund, which spent a total of R$ 131.3 million during the election. The accounts were approved by the TSE at the end of last year.
