Young riverside and indigenous people, from the Projeto Grupo de Amigos Representing Ideias (Gari) present the show ‘Tempestade em Copo D’Água’ this Saturday, March 23, 2024. The play will be staged in the Três Unidos Community, on the banks of the Rio Negro, at 7pm. The event marks the end of project activities.

Global actor Rafael Gualandi, Enzo from ‘Terra e Paixão’, is one of the guests for the presentation in the community.

The show is produced and performed by 14 young people. They will act and sing their stories, their dreams and their desires for their communities, in a performance with scenery, costumes and live music.

The play has already had two sessions in Manaus, in October last year. With the severe drought at the end of the year, it was necessary to wait for suitable weather conditions to set up the scenic structure for the presentation in the community, at the beginning of 2024.

The special session is aimed at guests and community members from the Puranga Conquista Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) and the Aturiá-Apuazinho Environmental Protection Area (APA), who received the Gari Project during the two years of activities.

For the Gari Project coordinator, Adriano Rodrigues, what differentiates the presentations is the possibility of getting closer to the reality that young people live in their daily lives.

“The show revives dreams and desires of many who live within communities. This piece will bring many answers to them. Regarding the results, they were already achieved during the project, when they understood their role and community empowerment”, he celebrates.

This presentation of the show is sponsored by the Alair Martins Institute (IAMAR) and supported by the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of the Environment (Sema), the Institute for Ecological Research (Ipê), the Sustainable Amazon Foundation and Sumimi Restaurant.

Synopsis

The play tells the story of Juma, a young man who faces a dilemma: get married or leave the community where he lives to conquer the world. Before deciding, he ends up hurting everyone around him, including his fiancee, Moema.
