Amapá became the center of gastronomy this Tuesday, 19th, at the opening of the 40th National Meeting of the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel). With support from the State Government and Sebrae, the initiative is part of the policy to strengthen tourism based on major events, established in the Government Plan of the current administration.

To the sound of the greatest hits of Brazilian and Amapá popular music, the event brought together Brazil’s biggest leaders in the food away from home sector. The public was able to enjoy traditional Amapá cuisine and participate in debates about innovations for the gastronomic sector. The event also brought together more than 600 people for the 9th Best of Gastronomy Awards, which recognizes the best Amapá enterprises in the away-from-home food sector. The highlight of the night was Peixaria Amazonas, awarded in four categories: Best Restaurant, Best Cuisine, Best Drinks List and Best Service. Amapá has more than 5 thousand formal establishments operating in the segment, generating the hiring and maintenance of more than 40 thousand jobs. The meeting returns to the North region after ten years and its main theme is “Sustainability and Efficiency in Gastronomic Business Management”.

Contemplation – “By hosting this meeting, Amapá places itself at the center of Brazilian gastronomy. It is a time for planning, exchanging experiences, promoting and valuing our culture, our tourism and our history”, highlights the Secretary of State for Tourism, Sintya Lamarão.
