Works in daycare centers reinforce the expansion of places in the municipal education network

The works are part of the City Hall’s commitment to increasing the number of places in daycare centers in the city

Manaus (AM) – The works on the new Severo Câmara municipal daycare center, located in the Braga Mendes community, Cidade de Deus neighborhood, North Zone of the city, will help the number of enrolled children reach 10 thousand children, according to the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, who inspected the unit on Thursday morning (25). The structure will be made available to the population in February with more than 200 spaces.

The works carried out by the Municipal Department of Education (Semed) are part of the City Hall’s commitment to increasing the number of places in daycare centers in the city.

“This is one of the daycare centers that we will deliver in February. Four more daycare centers will be completed, increasing the number of places for early childhood education students. When I took over as mayor, in 2021, we had 5,104 daycare spaces throughout the municipal network. We built daycare centers, expanded other units, expanded classrooms to place more students in preschool and bought places from private partners, so that it was possible to increase this number”,

said Almeida.

The head of the municipal Executive also explained that with the inauguration of four more new structures, Manaus City Hall will increase the number of services provided by 100%.

“In my campaign, we promised that we would increase the number of vacancies by 50%, and we are expanding 100% in four years. By the end of this year, we will deliver 10,208 daycare places, growing 100% in four years, thus seeking, in a transformative way, the best for education in the city of Manaus, because education begins in preschool, in daycare , and this primary and fundamental responsibility belongs to the city hall. With this expansion of the provision of daycare, we are sure that we will further improve the educational rates in the city of Manaus”, highlighted the mayor.

The structure will serve children aged 1 to 3, in kindergartens 1, 2 and 3, and will have new classrooms, different blocks, such as administrative, service, multipurpose and pedagogical blocks, as well as a playground and spaces with children’s toys.
