The Brazilian Rayssa Leal, 15, ended the discussion about the existence of only one true world championship in skateboarding. Just in case, she conquered both. Last year, she had won the SLS (Street League Skateboarding), seen as one of the most important tournaments on the circuit.

This Sunday (5), she promoted the unification of the titles by winning the Street Skate World Championship. The event took place in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates.

The competition, the second to be organized by World Skate, should have taken place in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, but it was cancelled. Rayssa had placed third in 2021.

It was a victory with ramifications also in the classification system for the Paris Olympics, in 2024. In the ranking that will define the qualified skaters for the tournament, Rayssa obtained 80 thousand points.

Fadinha, as the Maranhão native from Imperatriz became known after a video of her skating wearing a fairy costume went viral in 2015, had injured her wrist during training last week, during the quarterfinals of the competition, but even so she managed to keep up recover and win the tournament.

She was taken to the hospital, but tests did not detect any fractures. Even so, she participated in the final round with spot pinning.

At the Tokyo-2020 Games, aged 13, Rayssa won the silver medal, also in the street modality. This made her the youngest person to win a medal for Brazil at an Olympic Games.
