Late this Wednesday afternoon (27), the mayor of Macapá, Dr. Furlan and the senator Randolfe Rodrigues delivered the Skate Park Francisco da Silva Vilhena Júnior, located in the Araxá complex. The place is an old claim for those who practice the sport in the State and the entire structure was designed with the help of the Amapá Skate Association.
According to Dr. Furlan, the location is of great importance for skateboarders to practice the sport and beautify the city, as it is close to the Amazon River. Furthermore, the name of the place is a way of paying homage to a person who loved skateboarding so much.
“It was a request from the association. The so-called Junior Barateiro was a skateboarder, he was one of the first to meet with Senator Randolfe, to request the track, and who unfortunately passed away as a result of Covid-19. Nothing more fair to pay homage to those whose history is linked to sport.”he said.
The Skate Park is the result of an amendment by Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, worth R$1.5 million and was carried out by Macapá City Hall. According to him, the space was delivered in record time and will be able to host national competitions.
“It is a moment of great joy for the youth of Amapá. It is the first skate park in Amapá and the best located in the world. This track will be the first, as we have many other projects here. Bob Burniquist is here to organize the competition. We will have several projects with Bob, no one loses out by waiting”said the senator.
The Skate Park has space to bring together around 200 practitioners of the sport, including beginners, amateurs and professionals. The public space will provide the practice of street skateboarding, which are obstacles that interact with each other and are found in the city, such as handrails, ramps and curbs.
Skateboarders Bob Burniquist and Dani Vitória were present at the delivery of the new location and took the opportunity to do some tricks and impress the fans and skateboarders a little more. Bob explains that it is of great importance to have a place that encourages the practice of the sport.
“The important thing is the seed being planted. I see that there are a lot of skaters here, I see excitement and I’m enjoying it. This is how you start and better things will come. It’s a track that needs some adjustments, things that can be resolved. We always fought for space, now we have it and we need to make adjustments”commented Bob.
The place was named after Francisco da Silva Vilhena Júnior. He was a bodybuilder, personal trainer, teacher and, above all, he loved skateboarding. He has practiced the activity since childhood.

Bob Burniquist is one of the great references in world Skateboarding. He is the greatest legend of Brazilian Vertical Skateboarding and has collected more than 30 medals in the X-Games, being the greatest record holder of all time.
Dani Vitória is 14 years old and is one of the biggest promises in Brazilian skateboarding. In 2022, she made her debut in the Brazilian junior skate team and, this year, she remained among the 16 skaters who are part of the select list of the Brazilian Skate Confederation. Dani caught the attention of Banco do Brasil, which recently announced her as the new member of the Skate Squad.
