With more than 6 million victims in 2024, death from abortion leads the ranking

According to official statistics compiled by the organization Worldometersabortion is already the main cause of death in 2024. Surpassing the number of deaths caused by diseases such as cancer and HIV/AIDS, the number of abortions in the world recorded from January 1, 2024 to date already exceeds 6, 07 million cases.

By way of comparison, the number of deaths associated with cancer to date is 1.1 million worldwide; while the number of deaths caused by HIV/AIDS is 227,900.

If the numbers continue in the same direction until the end of the year, 2024 will be the sixth consecutive year in which abortion is the biggest cause of death in the world.

In 2023, according to data from the Worldometers, there were 44.6 million abortions. In the same year, there were around 12.9 million deaths caused by infectious diseases; 1.6 million deaths caused by HIV/AIDS; 2.4 million for alcohol consumption; 1.3 million deaths due to accidents with passenger and cargo vehicles; and 1 million people died by suicide.

In 2021 and 2022, the height of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the biggest cause of death in the world was also abortion with, respectively, 42.6 million and 44 million victims.

In 2020, around 42.6 million people were victims of abortion and, in 2019, 42.4 million.

Still, by way of comparison, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 17.7 million people die every year in the world from cardiovascular diseases.
