Winners of the 15th stage of the Brazilian Open Water Cup in Manaus; check list

Manaus (AM) — Hosting the national competition for the first time in the capital of Amazonas, the Amazon Water Sports Federation (Fada), with support from the Brazilian Water Sports Confederation (CBDA), held the 10th Brazilian Open Water Cup over the weekend. With 129 entries, the event took place on Ponta Negra beach, being the 15th stage of the season.

The tests included the categories: Children 1, Children 2, Junior, Youth and the most diverse Senior classes. With 17 gold medals in the two days of competition, Instituto Pedro Nicolas was highlighted in the medals table. Soon after, Aquática Nobre obtained 15 gold medals, with Sinpol/RR following with 13 victories.

Holder of four Amazon records in swimming, athlete Caio Arcos (Instituto Pedro Nicolas) was one of the highlights of the competition in the 1.5km races, where he won in the Junior category with a time of 0:17:04 and in the 2.5km, nailing 0:30:50. The athlete, who is one of Amazonas’ hopes of having an athlete in the 2024 Olympics, spoke about his performance in the open water competition.

“I really liked my performance in the race, I felt really good swimming these two days. Whenever there are these open water competitions we try to participate, because whether we like it or not, it serves as preparation for me to continue evolving in the sport and I am very happy with the results I achieved”,

stated Caio Arcos.

The 10th Copa Brasil and the 2nd Marcelinha Cunha Trophy had the following partners: Manaus City Hall, the Secretary of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), Ubra and Yara. The national competition is part of the Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation (CBDA) calendar and counts points towards the ranking of the highest body in Brazilian swimming.
