Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima signed, this Monday (30), an agreement with the Matias Machline Foundation (FMM) to benefit students from the state network. The agreement guarantees more than 360 places for students from the state network to enroll in the Technical High School offered by the school.

On that occasion, the governor of Amazonas visited the institution’s facilities, accompanied by ten students from public schools, who joined the foundation this year, getting to know spaces and laboratories and inaugurating a technological room.

“This here is a step forward that we give to education in the state of Amazonas, bringing students here, to an institution like this, of high level and excellence. This is an important partnership that we are establishing here with this foundation, which has been in the state of Amazonas for 36 years, and we need not comment on the positive results it has had. And we also provide opportunities for our students from the public school system to also have access to these laboratories, theoretical classes and all the knowledge that is produced here”, declared Wilson Lima.

A reference in education, with excellence for more than three decades, the Matias Machline Foundation (FMM) works with the objective of promoting social transformation through education. “This opportunity that Governor Wilson Lima and Secretary Kuka Chaves (from the Department of Education and Sports) are offering to public school students is for them to gain places in universities of excellence in Brazil and, once they graduate, they can generate wealth. and who knows changes to Brazil”, highlighted the executive director of FMM, Sung Song.

According to the Secretary of State for Education and Sports, Kuka Chaves, over the next three years, approximately 1,400 students will benefit from the partnership, with the possibility of expansion. “This is a project that will serve the capital, but there is an ongoing study so that we can also serve students from the surroundings (of the capital) and, who knows, from the interior of Amazonas”, she revealed.

With the agreement, a total of 368 vacancies will be made available by the FMM for students from the state network, who completed elementary school in 2022 and will enter high school in 2023. The selection of students will be coordinated by the State Department of Education and Sport and will have as selection criteria students in the 9th year of Elementary School with the best overall average in 2022, in the state network; maximum age of 15 years; and attendance percentage above 85% also in the 2022 school year.

According to criteria, according to the State Government, for this first selection of 368 students, who will enter the Foundation’s high school next week, the student with the highest grade had a 9.98 and the lowest was 9.59.

“First of all, it’s an incredible opportunity, because here we’re not going to start with just secondary education, we’re going to start with technical education, and we’ll already be prepared for work. It’s a chance the government is giving us to expand our careers and create our future. It’s a chance not only for me, but for several students”, commented Marcos Gabriel da Rocha, 15, selected for the medium technical course in informatics, adding that he couldn’t believe it when he heard the news from his mother.

If there is no interest on the part of the student, the subsequent student with the highest grade will be invited. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be based on the best grade in the Mathematics subject.

The insertion of students in the Matias Machline Foundation Technical High School is traditionally done through a selection process. For the 2023 school year, for example, the public notice was launched by the teaching unit in November 2022, where 313 students from the public education network were covered, with 295 vacancies destined for students with gross monthly family income of less than R$ 4,000, and 18 vacancies for students with a gross monthly family income of more than R$ 4,000.

At FMM, in addition to excellent teaching and education, students have four meals a day, uniform kits every year, textbooks, medical, dental and psychopedagogical care during the three years they spend at the foundation.
