Wilson Lima points out that 90% of State Aid is intended for heads of families

The governor of Amazonas brought forward to March 8 the portion of the program that has more than 270,000 families headed by women

Manaus (AM) – In a meeting with women who receive Permanent State Aid, Governor Wilson Lima highlighted, this Wednesday (8), that these heads of families represent 90% of the total number of beneficiaries. Of the 300,000 registered, currently, more than 271,000 are from families headed by women, representing the sum of R$ 40.6 million in transfers destined for them.

The governor of Amazonas anticipated the payment of the March installment of Permanent State Aid for this date, in celebration of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8.

“Women have a very significant participation in the labor market, in society. They play an important role in the strategic decisions of the State and also of Brazil. And I’m coming here today, on Seas, to greet you and also recognize the importance that women have in society and the respect that women should be given and this is not just today, but this has to be a constant habit and not just lip service, it has to be through gestures and attitudes”,

said Governor Wilson Lima.

This is the third installment of the aid paid in 2023. The benefit is always credited on the 15th of each month. The program was created by Governor Wilson Lima and is aimed at families in poverty and extreme poverty. At least 300,000 Amazonian families receive the benefit, which guarantees a monthly credit of R$ 150, adding up to R$ 45 million monthly in circulation in the economy of the entire state.

Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Single Registry of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) indicate that most families in extreme poverty, supported by only one person, are headed by women.

For this reason, the determination of Governor Wilson Lima, since the creation of this program by the Government of Amazonas, coordinated by the State Secretariat for Social Assistance (Seas), is to value these women who maintain the livelihood of their homes, children and families.

“It’s great. This helps a lot in the family, especially mine because I am the mother of six children and not every day we have our daily bread to give our children. So, this is a gift that God has placed on the right path, at the right time, there are many people who need it and thank God I was one of the recipients of this aid”,

said housewife Ana Rize, 26, who is a mother of six.

Unemployed and mother of seven children, Diamantina Silva, 37 years old, thanked the governor for his care for the Amazonian women and said that the feeling is one of great joy. “For us women, it’s a special day, we deserve it a lot, as people of extreme poverty we really need this help and it’s been a joy for all the people who have this help. I thank God first and the governor second,” she commented.

Permanent Assistance

The Permanent State Aid is considered the largest income transfer program in the history of Amazonas and guarantees food security for the population in situations of poverty and extreme poverty. In addition to ensuring the dignity of those most in need, the program boosts economic growth.

The program was created as a response by the State Government to the social impacts brought about by the pandemic for families who lost jobs and income. The State Aid guarantees the monthly resource for the purchase of a basic food basket, at the same time that it increases the economy of the 62 municipalities.
