The mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), made a public reprimand against Bolsonarist deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), who put on a wig and gave a transphobic speech in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, this Wednesday ( 8), in an attack on trans women on International Women’s Day.
Lira stated that the plenary of the House is not “a stage for exhibitionism and much less prejudiced speeches”.
“I will not tolerate disrespect against anyone. Deputy Nikolas Ferreira deserves my public reprimand for his attitude today. To all and all who felt offended and offended by my solidarity”, wrote Lira on social networks.
In the transphobic speech, the deputy said that women have lost space for “men who feel like women”. “They are trying to impose a reality that is not reality,” said Nikolas.
Wearing a wig, Nikolas also said that the core of his speech was “freedom”, for example, of a “father refusing a 2-meter-tall man, a grown man, to enter the bathroom with his daughter”.
Most voted federal deputy in Brazil in 2022, Nikolas also said that women have lost space for trans women in sports and beauty contests. “She IS a person who just feels something and imposes it on you.”
“So, women, take back your femininity, have children, love motherhood, form your families, because in this way you will bring light to the world and you will certainly be worthy women”, concluded Nikolas.
After the end of the speech, Nikolas was applauded by Bolsonarist deputies, who shouted “Nicolete”, in reference to the transphobic character created by the deputy.
