Wilson Lima coordinates aid for those affected by the drought in Tefé

Governor accompanied the delivery of basic food baskets, school lunch kits, a water treatment plant and benefits to producers affected by the drought

Tefé (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima coordinated, this Thursday (19), the delivery of humanitarian aid to 25 communities affected by the drought in Tefé (523 kilometers from Manaus). On the occasion, more than a thousand basic food baskets, kits from the Merenda em Casa program, a water purifying machine, a mobile water treatment station, from the Água Boa program, as well as incentives for farmers, were delivered.

According to Wilson Lima, the Government of Amazonas has taken action to guarantee food security and the well-being of the population impacted by the descent of rivers, through integrated actions.

“We anticipated calling industry, commerce and energy concessionaires to stockpile fuel and avoid rationing. We anticipate food acquisition programs, we have laws to amnesty debts at Afeam and a series of actions by the government”,

said the governor.

Participating in the deliveries were the mayor of Tefé, Nicson Marreira; the Secretary of Civil Defense of Amazonas, Colonel Francisco Máximo; the Secretary of Sustainable Development (ADS), Michelle Bessa; and the CEO of Cosama, Armando Valle.

In total, 2,000 basic food baskets are planned for the municipality of Tefé to serve families in communities impacted by the flood. In this action, food was delivered to more than 1,050 families and includes items such as rice, beans, oil, sugar, flour, pasta, powdered milk, coffee, among other basic products that are essential for families’ subsistence.

Mother of two children and resident of the Boará de Cima Community, where more than 30 families live, Valci Alves states that humanitarian aid is essential in this difficult time and congratulates the action of the Amazonas government.

“The attitude of caring about our situation is very important. We want that from a ruler. We want partnership and concern. And we just have to be grateful”, said Valci.

In addition to the basic food baskets, a water purification machine was delivered to the municipality of Tefé through Cosama. The equipment has the capacity to purify 3 thousand liters of water per day, equivalent to 150 bottles of treated and natural water daily.

The mobile water treatment station, part of the Água Boa program, delivered by the Civil Defense of Amazonas, has the capacity to store 10 thousand liters of water and was installed on a ferry, which must pass through riverside communities and carry already treated water for consumption. .

On the occasion, 671 kits from the Merenda em Casa program were also delivered to students who had their school activities suspended due to the drought.

Benefits for farmers

Through ADS, the government of Amazonas is supporting more than 500 families of rural producers, fishermen and managers affected by the drought in Tefé, through the Family Assistance Program (PAF).

In this action, 1 ton of food was purchased from 121 families in the communities of Santa Maria, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara, located on Ilha do Tarará, rural region of Tefé. The products were delivered to 90 families in the communities of Boará de Cima, Boará do Meio, Boarazinho and Aldeia Vasquez, also on Tarará Island. In total, the program benefits 211 families.

During the program, the pirarucu subsidy was paid to fishermen from Amazonas linked to the Z4 de Tefé Fisherman’s Colony, which serves 38 fishermen in the city.

The State Secretariat for Rural Production (Sepror) delivered around 58 tons of products from 12 farmers in the municipality, registered in the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), to families affected by the drought.
