The fireworks thrown at Vila Belmiro to attack players from Santos and Corinthians sound like the last point in a broad project to destroy everything that surrounds football in Brazil.

As if it were a magnet for problems, the sports news combines racism, rapes and crowd fights with unprecedented defeats by the national team and disputes over millionaire commissions, in an attempt to set up a new model of administration, the league.

Football is not a bubble.

The cliché, repeated to exhaustion at the height of the pandemic, when leaders wanted privileges that the population did not have, today could also be interpreted the other way around. How could the country’s most popular sport be safe at a time when public schools have students and teachers cowardly attacked?

In common, football and the country reap what they sowed: the lack of investment in education.

If the technicians here are far from those trained in Europe, it is natural that lawyers, engineers and journalists are too.
