Video takes context images to lie about expropriations in AM and PA – 10/22/2023 – Power

Video decontextualizes images of different situations to spread the false allegation that there are land expropriation operations in the states of Pará and Amazonas.

Comprova was able to identify that the photo that opens the video was taken in Yanomami territory, in Roraima, during an Ibama operation against illegal mining. The first video shown in the post was made in Bahia, in the municipality of Porto Seguro. A second video, of an automotive workshop on fire, actually shows an accidental fire in businesses in Anapu, Pará.

The report was unable to confirm the origin of the last part of the video, which shows a fire in a camp in a forested area, with machinery also on fire. A narrator who speaks in this part of the record, however, mentions an action by the Federal Police and the National Force, which usually carry out joint operations to combat illegal mining in the Amazon.

The narrator himself suggests that this is a mining area, when he mentions the fact that the occupants of the place had “spent money for nothing” on PLG, an acronym for Mining Permit. It is not possible to attest, however, that the narration is original to this last clip of the video.

The report asked the Ministry of Justice and Public Security whether it recognizes the images in the third video as being from some PF operation against illegal mining, but received no response until the publication of this text.
