Video: Flávio Bolsonaro and Moro react to Dino’s approval – 12/14/2023 – Power

The announcement of the scoreboard with Flávio Dino’s approval to the Federal Supreme Court took place at 9:22 pm this Wednesday (13).

Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and Sergio Moro (União-PR) were sitting in the same row in the plenary, one chair away.

The eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was practically impassive, looking at one of the panels in the plenary. Moro whispered briefly to the colleague next to him and laughed discreetly.

Dino received 47 votes in favor and 31 against — with two abstentions. He needed at least 41 votes.

Since redemocratization, only André Mendonça, nominated by Bolsonaro, had received more votes against (32) than Dino (31). Earlier, during the hearing at the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), Dino received 17 votes in favor and 10 against his appointment.

One of the unusual moments of the hearing was carried out by Moro. Upon entering the CCJ, Moro greeted Dino and ended up smiling at a joke made by the minister.

Later, when speaking during the hearing, Moro complained about criticism he received on social media for being photographed laughing with President Lula’s nominee to the STF.

“Your Excellency asked something and I thought it was funny and laughed. They took several photos and they have already gone viral, as if that represented my position,” said Moro, adding that they were both federal judges.

“I have already made it very clear that I have deep differences with the current government, and your excellency is part of the current government, but I will not lose civility and I think this country needs that to reduce polarization.”

At another point, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said that his father, former president Bolsonaro, considered nominating him, Flávio, for the STF vacancy that ended with minister André Mendonça, in 2021. In Flávio’s version , he dissuaded his father from the idea by saying that he was a politician, not a technician.
