Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) published a video on his social network in which he participates in a prayer circle in Angra dos Reis (RJ), days after the Federal Police operation against him and his allies and amid the progress of investigations about his participation in an attempted coup d’état.
The publication of the meeting with supporters also comes one day after the release of the video of a ministerial meeting, which took place in July 2022, in which Bolsonaro discussed coup scenarios.
The video was recorded in what he called “the Mambucaba fence” — the former president made a habit of receiving supporters at his beach residence, in the Historic Village of Mambucaba, to talk about various topics, similar to what he did in front of the Palace da Alvorada when he held the Presidency.
“A prayer for Brazil – God, Country, Family and Freedom”, wrote the former president in the post.
Bolsonaro doesn’t say anything in the video, he just appears with his back listening to a supporter’s prayer. “Our president is going through a difficult time,” says the woman. She adds that his fight would be everyone’s, because “we are all Brazilians”, and states that no one will back down, for the love of Brazil.
“May your enemies have eyes and you can’t see them, they have hands and they can’t touch you, they have legs and you can’t reach them”, says the woman.
On Thursday (8), Jair Bolsonaro and his allies, including high-ranking military personnel, were the target of a Federal Police operation investigating an attempted coup d’état to keep him in power after his defeat in the presidential elections.
The operation is one of the main setbacks for Bolsonaro in the judicial siege he has faced since leaving the Presidency in December 2022.
The following day, the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes removed the confidentiality of the video of a meeting with ministers, on July 5, 2022.
The videos seized by the PF on the computer of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp, show that the former president calls on his ministers to do “something” before the presidential elections, in which he was defeated by Lula.
