Valencia considering suing Rodrygo over racist slurs

O Valence is studying the possibility of denouncing Rodrygo after the attacker Real Madrid insisted that the entire Mestalla stadium uttered racist chants against Vinicius Junior during a match of the Spanish Championship played on May 21st.

This same accusation was initially made by Real’s coach, the Italian, Carlo Ancelottiwho apologized after saying in the press conference after the confrontation between the two teams that the entire stadium called the Brazilian player a “monkey”.

“Valencia CF regrets and categorically denies the false statements made by the player Rodrygo Goes, in which he claims that our entire stadium and fans uttered racist chants. Such demonstrations are serious lies that contribute to totally unfairly stigmatizing an exemplary fan base such as that of Valencia CF,” the statement said.

In statements criticized by Valencia, Rodrygo comments that Spain is not a racist country, although there are those who are, but points out that he saw “the whole stadium scream monkey” at his teammate.

In its statement, Valencia recalls that Ancelotti has already gone back on his statements and asks the player to do the same with “these falsehoods”.

“Valencia CF reserves the right to take the relevant legal measures to defend the honor of our club and fans. We must also demand rigor and responsibility from football players when making statements”, highlights the entity.

The club also ratifies its “most vehement condemnation of any type of racism or violence” and recalls that it forever expelled the three fans identified for having made racist insults against Vinícius Júnior.

“There is no doubt about our struggle and commitment to eradicate this social scourge. Once again, we ask for the greatest respect from our fans and that they not be attacked with false information and rumours”, concludes the statement.
