Valdemar attributes PF operations to electoral motivations – 01/30/2024 – Power

PL president, Valdemar Costa Neto, said this Tuesday (30) that the PF (Federal Police) operations against federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) and Rio de Janeiro councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicans) have electoral motivations.

“Everything that is happening is due to the latest research. I want to emphasize that our project is stronger than ever and we are going to win the elections in Rio de Janeiro”, says Valdemar, in a statement.

“Riocas are an enlightened people and are watching everything that is happening in our country, especially the persecution of the Bolsonaro family and our candidates”, he added.

Ramagem, former head of Abin, is the current Bolsonarist pre-candidate for Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.

Valdemar also said that he officially invited Carlos to join and assume the presidency of the municipal directory of Rio de Janeiro. This should be the debut of the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) as a party leader — he has been in politics since being elected councilor at the age of 17.

Carlos always demonstrated disbelief or disinterest in party issues, but his understanding changed throughout his father’s government. According to reports, the councilor has become more pragmatic and will now take on the role of Valdemar’s party in the capital of Rio.

The idea is to give the party a Bolsonarist veneer and a conservative turn to be able to not only elect him with a good margin of votes, but to work on Ramagem’s campaign.

The two were targeted by the PF. But even so, the party maintains support for their candidacies. And, especially in the case of the pre-candidate for mayor, he does not work with a plan B.

Furthermore, party members believe that not only these recent operations, such as that of Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for mayor of Niterói, last week, strengthen the discourse of persecution and help the Bolsonarist campaign in Rio.

Despite the formalization of the invitation, Carlos should only join in March, when there is a party window. With this, he leaves the Republicans, which was one of those that supported Bolsonaro during the 2022 election, but today participates in the Lula 3 government in the Ministry of Ports and Airports, with Silvio Costa Filho.
