Clock Square and University City Rectory, in the West Zone of São Paulo. Cecília Bastos/USP Images The University Council of the University of São Paulo (USP) approved this Monday (22) a quota regime for vacancies in competitive examinations and selection processes for professors and technical-administrative staff. With the new measure, 20% of vacancies will be allocated to black, brown and indigenous (PPI) candidates when the number of open vacancies exceeds three. For tenders where the number of vacancies offered is one or two, PPI candidates will receive a differentiated score, where the calculation will take into account the average score of the competition among all candidates and the average score of the PPI competition. According to Carlos Carlotti Junior, rector of USP, the decision is historic and will promote greater inclusion and diversity among the university’s teaching and administrative staff.
