The Electoral Corregidor General, Minister Benedito Gonçalves, decided this Tuesday (7) to keep the draft found in the house of former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres in a lawsuit against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is investigating the former president for questioning the fairness of the electoral system during a meeting with ambassadors.

Gonçalves determined that the plenary of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) analyze his decision, reported the newspaper O Globo. In January, the minister responded to a request by the PDT to include the draft in the action in which Bolsonaro is accused of abuse of political power and misuse of the media during the meeting with the ambassadors. The defense of the former president requested that the document be removed from the file.

Gonçalves emphasized in the decision that the investigation process does not prevent “elements being admitted to the process and considered in the judgment that are intended to demonstrate developments of the facts originally narrated, the seriousness (qualitative and quantitative) of the conduct that makes up the cause of action or the responsibility of those investigated and people around them”. The magistrate also criticized attempts to delegitimize the electoral process.

“In this reflection, it is worth noting, not without sadness, that the results of the 2022 presidential elections, although a legitimate and authentic result of the popular will manifested in the ballot boxes, became the target of severe threats. new President of the Republic, wildly anti-democratic acts and insidious conspiracies have become commonplace. by force,” wrote the minister.
