Transition mapped servers going to coup acts – 01/23/2023 – Power

The government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) carried out a mapping, even before taking office, of public servants assigned to the Presidency of the Republic who allegedly participated in anti-democratic acts carried out after the elections.

The report held by the Ministry of Justice also lists officials as regulars at the coup camp at the Army Headquarters in Brasília. The document also indicates their manifestations on social networks.

The same dossier produced by the transition team also pointed out at least eight active-duty military personnel assigned to the Presidency during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) who attended the anti-democratic acts and the Army HQ.

“There is information inside the Planalto Palace that other employees of the Directorate of Technology, the Secretariat of Administration of the Presidency of the Republic, as well as employees of other units of the Presidency of the Republic would have participated in anti-democratic demonstrations in front of the Army HQ or in networks social services,” says an excerpt from the document to which the Sheet had access.

The document was produced during the transition based on conversations obtained from WhatsApp groups and social media monitoring.

It contains photos of each of the servers accompanied by their respective functions, with the exception of one case in which the position was not identified and another without specification of the area in which the employee works.

Of the 18 civil servants mentioned in the document, 16 still remain in commissioned positions in the Presidency – two have been exonerated since the beginning of January.

Four of them, when sought by the Sheet, denied having participated in coup acts or frequented the Army HQ. Two others said they had only passed around the HQ, but without participating in the demonstrations.

THE Sheet sought Secom (Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency) to question the reason for maintaining the servers, since members of the government itself mapped their performance in the coup acts.

In a note, the agency stated that it “vehemently condemns the attacks on democratic institutions in Brazil” that took place on the 8th in Brasilia and that it advocates that “all persons involved be investigated and punished, under the terms of the law, being assured to all the broad right of defence”.

Secom also said that the identified servants did not join the Presidency in the current management. “The involvement of each one of them will be duly investigated by Organs competent bodies and the appropriate measures will be taken.”

The argument used privately to explain the permanence is that the government is waiting for this Tuesday (24th), when an organizational reform will be carried out. According to people who follow the theme, servers in commissioned positions linked to the former management will be exonerated after the reorganization.

THE Sheet spoke with two civil servants listed in the dossier who were exonerated this month. Sérgio Bastos Dytz, who was assigned to the General Secretariat of the Presidency, says that this is “a thing of the past” and that he was once at the camp “in the very beginning, right when it started, on a Sunday night”. He couldn’t say exactly the date.

“I didn’t participate in anything, no. I went there to visit, see how it was, what was there, but in contact with nobody”, he said. “I went to support President Bolsonaro’s candidacy at the time he was running for president. That’s all. Like many. Like 70 million Brazilians were,” he continued.

Bolsonaro was defeated in the second round by Lula. The former president had about 58 million votes.

When asked if the reason for his dismissal was his presence at the camp, Sérgio Bastos Dytz denied it and said that the new government is dismissing “more than 3,000 employees with an excellent curriculum”. “Exchanging qualified people for people who don’t even know how to write.”

The dossier made by the transition points out that Dytz is the son of a general and that he would have participated with his wife in the demonstrations in front of the Army HQ.

Retired colonel, Renato Fernandes Morais, exonerated last week and who also worked in the General Secretariat of the Presidency, told the Sheet that his private life “doesn’t interest anyone” and that he has “no connection with the government, with anything”.

When asked if he was at HQ, he replied: “I don’t have to say yes or no, although I haven’t been.”
