Event in Curitiba will feature a business meeting with financial agents

Between March 17th and 19th, Curitiba (PR), elected the smartest city in the world at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2023, will be the capital of smart tourist destinations. Professionals from the tourism and innovation sector, public managers, academics and non-governmental organizations from Brazil and Ibero America will participate in an exchange of experiences on how to give greater visibility to tourist attractions with the implementation of technologies that make destinations more accessible and sustainable.

Sebrae, for leading innovation actions in tourism, will participate in the International Smart Destinations Fair, presenting the experience that has been carried out in 12 municipalities that participate in the Tourism Futuro Brasil Program, carried out in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). They are: Belo Horizonte (MG), Pirenópolis (GO), Novo Airão (AM), São Luís (MA), Belém (PA), Bombinhas (SC), Bonito (MS), Ilhabela (SP), Paraty (RJ) , Curitiba (PR), Recife (PE) and Penedo (AL).

In addition to these cities, 16 other locations certified by the Ministry of Tourism as transforming destinations will participate in the event. These are municipalities that are working towards this recognition.

“The competitiveness of Brazilian tourist destinations must result from an adequate management process in line with the development of tourism at a global level. The event allows them to structure themselves and explore new possibilities”,

said Sebrae’s Tourism coordinator, Ana Clévia.

In 2023, the 12 destinations selected by Sebrae and the IDB constructed diagnoses to define their maturity in relation to the topic and outline future objectives. In this process, one of the main difficulties identified was the need to expand knowledge and access to financing to implement key actions that promote the evolution of municipalities.

For this reason, one of the actions scheduled for the International Fair taking place in Curitiba is the “Future Brazil Tourism Business Meeting: access to credit”, which will be held on Monday afternoon (18). In it, Brazilian destinations will have the opportunity to get closer to the main financing agents (BNDES, Banco do Nordeste, among others).

The Program’s destinations will go through a prior advisory process to identify projects that require financing and that present greater clarity and assertiveness. Financing agents will have access to a list of prioritized projects in each of the destinations prior to the event.

Future Brazil Tourism Program

A partnership between Sebrae and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Program has been supporting 12 locations on their journey towards transforming into smart tourist destinations. More than 300 municipalities participated in the selection notice, which provided for up to two actions to be carried out with this group of municipalities.
