The Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, stated this Friday (15) that the government should send the project that ends the FGTS anniversary withdrawal to Congress this month. Marinho has been defending the end of the sport since last year.

“This is under construction in the government. We must, depending on me, in the month of March, offer the National Congress a bill. If it’s up to me, we have two weeks to be ready for President Lula to sign,” he said.

The FGTS birthday withdrawal was created by former president Jair Bolsonaro in 2020. By opting for the initiative, the worker can redeem part of the money deposited in the Fund in the month of their birthday. The amount is proportional to what is deposited and ranges from half, for those who have up to R$500 saved, to 5% plus an additional installment of R$2,900, for those who have more than R$20,000.

However, by joining the modality, the worker waives the withdrawal-termination option. In case of unfair dismissal, it is only possible to withdraw a fine of 40% of the FGTS balance. If you want to return to the withdrawal withdrawal, the worker must complete a two-year grace period to have full access to the amount.

“If we don’t end the birthday withdrawal, we won’t solve the problem of these workers, who need and want that resource. But the law created by the previous government prevents him from receiving it. We need to change this law”, highlighted Marinho.
