Tipped to be the next coach of the Flamengo, Tite arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night (26). The former coach of the Brazilian team suffered harassment from supporters of the Rio team, fans and the press. But he dodged questions about his future and avoided mentioning Flamengo.
“I’m coming with my family. I traveled with my family”, claimed the coach, trying to dodge questions about the Rio club. “I respect you, good job. Excuse me. I’ve lived here for seven years. Thank you, guys.” Good work to you”, declared Tite.
Asked if he would accept to lead Flamengo now, in the final stretch of the season, the coach said he made his choices based solely on “respect, education and principle”. “Anything I say, you will make an analogy. If anything guides me, it is respect. Education, principles. I cannot speak, I respect your work. It is not me who speaks. I respect the Flamengo, I respect Corinthians and I respect São Paulo”, he commented.
Tite became the star of the club in Rio in the face of the unsustainable situation experienced by Jorge Sampaoli, much criticized by the fans due to the team’s poor performances in the final of the Copa do Brasil. The loss of the title to São Paulo, at the weekend, made the club’s management accelerate the search for a replacement.
Tite, in turn, has not worked as a coach since the end of last year, when he left the Brazilian team at the end of the World Cup in Qatar. He had the goal of managing a club in Europe, but the plan has not yet come to fruition. In recent weeks, the coach started to consider the possibility of working in Brazil, again as a club coach.
