This Saturday (29) took place the delivery of three of the four stages of the revitalization and construction of the sports complex Glicerio de Souza MarquesO “Favela Giant”. The three phases were carried out with funds allocated by the senator David Alcolumbre, ex-deputy Evandro Milhomem and municipal counterpart. All work was carried out by City Hall of Macapá and the last stage, which consists of revitalizing the bleachers, will also be conducted by the Municipal Executive.
According to the senator David Alcolumbre, the delivery of the work is important to promote the practice of sports in the state. “We are delivering another work, another gift to the city of Macapá. Today we have a sports center in the center of the city. This is the result of our work, Milhomem and the mayor of Macapá. The victory belongs to society, which gains this great gift”he said.
The mayor of Macapa, doctor furlan, was present at the event and explains the importance of the venue, which will have space for Olympic and non-Olympic sports. “Today we are delivering the first stages of the new Glicério Marques Sports Complex and it is important to say that the community’s dream has come true. In this new stage we will have 25 new Olympic, Paralympic and non-Olympic sports. Thanks to everyone who helped make this dream come true.”he said.
Present at the ceremony were the former athlete, jumper and sprinter, Maurrem Maggi and the former player Leo Moura, one of the creators of the project “Passaporte para a Vitória”, which serves more than 10,000 children and adolescents in Amapá. “It is a great pleasure to be participating in this event. I think this adds a lot to the sport in Amapá, because the population of Macapá wins”he said Leo.
In the first stage, the general structuring of the space, electrical installations, fire fighting system, urbanization, drainage, landscaping, hydrosanitary system and the construction of three water reservoirs were carried out. In addition to electrical adjustments in changing rooms, snack bars, toilets and guardhouses, painting and installation of bathroom fixtures in changing rooms.
The second phase included the construction of a fight and dance block, a skate park, a gym for the elderly, a gym for young people and adults and a society field. In the third phase, the field was renovated and synthetic grass was installed.
Glicério de Souza Marques is one of the oldest stadiums in Brazil, founded in 1950 and has a capacity for 5,630 fans. Stage of major national and state competitions, the stadium achieved, after the revitalization process, the title of sports complex, thus expanding the variety of sports practiced on site such as: athletics; swimming; volleyball; Basketball; futsal; handball; hockey; official field soccer; fights; wrestling; figure skating; between others.
