After the president of the PT, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann, complained about fines imposed on the party by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and called for the end of electoral justice, senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) said that the PT does not spare attacks on the TSE when is opposed, but uses the Court to persecute opponents.
“The PT, when contradicted, does not spare attacks on the TSE and the electoral justice system. It even goes so far as to question the existence of this branch of the Judiciary. But he has no shame in provoking him, with lies, against his adversaries and against popular sovereignty”, wrote Moro on the social network X, last Thursday (21).
Gleisi complained about the millionaire fines imposed on the PT for non-compliance with gender quotas and called for the end of the Electoral Court during a debate in the Chamber’s Special Committee on the controversial Amnesty PEC, last Wednesday (20).
Amnesty’s PEC forgives fines for parties that did not comply with the legal obligation to allocate a minimum percentage of seats in their parties to women and black people.
In response to the PT deputy, however, without mentioning the name of the party leader, the president of the TSE, minister Alexandre de Moraes stated, in a note, that “regrettably, the very existence of the Electoral Court was contested by the president of a political party, as a result of total lack of knowledge about its importance, structure, organization and functioning”.
Moraes also highlighted that the Electoral Court “does not have the sole function of monitoring the use of public money by political parties”.
