The Moro couple’s appetite just doesn’t overcome cynicism, says group – 03/07/2024 – Mônica Bergamo

The group Prerogativas, made up of jurists, lawyers, defenders and professors in the field of law, states that it will take action against federal deputy Rosângela Moro (União Brasil-PR), who transferred her electoral title back to Paraná after being elected by the state of São Paulo.

The change was revealed by the column this Thursday (7) and represents a turnaround in the political scenario of Paraná and even Brazil. Now, Rosângela is a concrete alternative to running for the Senate if her husband, current senator Sergio Moro (União-PR), is revoked by the Electoral Court.

In a note, Prerogativas states that since the 2022 elections it has tried to show that the parliamentarian had committed electoral fraud by running for a state with which she never had any affection or intimacy relationship. And he says he sees a “huge contradiction” in her decisions.

“The appetite and attachment that the Moro couple have for power is no greater than the cynicism and hypocrisy with which both have been acting in public life”, states the group, which is coordinated by lawyer Marco Aurélio de Carvalho.

“The registration of his candidacy should have been revoked, which would have spared his voters this enormous embarrassment. We will take action”, he further says.

Supporters of the couple claim that Rosângela Moro transferred the title to Paraná for logistical reasons, as her husband was elected by the state and remains domiciled in Curitiba. They also say they are certain that Moro will not be impeached, and that therefore she will not be a candidate to replace him.

Moro’s trial is scheduled for April 1st at the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR). The former judge is the target of two actions, from Jair Bolsonaro’s PL and the Brazilian Federation of Hope, which brings together PT, PC do B and PV, parties at the base of Lula’s government.

The parties accuse him of abuse of economic power, slush funds and improper use of social media in the 2022 pre-campaign. He denies the accusations.
