“The countless fake news remains buried”, says Moro about the Marielle case

When commenting on the arrests of the alleged perpetrators of the murder of former councilwoman Marielle Franco, the former Minister of Justice of the previous government and current senator, Sergio Moro (União-PR), said that “the countless fake news irresponsibly exploited about this terrible crime.”

This Sunday (24), the former head of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, Rivaldo Barbosa, federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão (União-RJ), and his brother, Domingos Brazão, who is an advisor to the Court of Auditors of Rio de Janeiro, were arrested. “I hope that those who ordered the murder of Marielle and Anderson pay for their crimes and that the family can find justice and peace. As reported by People’s Gazettein a trial held in May 2020, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) rejected a request to federalize investigations into the case.

The request for federalization had been made in 2019 by the then Attorney General of the Republic, Raquel Dodge. She alleged inaction on the part of Rio de Janeiro authorities in the investigations.
