The ministers of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) approved with reservations the accounts of the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for the year 2022, this Wednesday morning (7). According to the magistrates, “distortions” of R$ 1.28 trillion were found. The report will be sent to Congress for final analysis of the accounts.

Unanimously, the ministers voted in favor of the text by rapporteur Jorge Oliveira, even with the distortions found, such as undue recognition of assets, tax revenues and unrecognized obligations with Social Security.

The analysis is based on the Accountability of the President of the Republic (PCPR), a document prepared by the central body of the internal control system of the Executive Branch. The report that accompanies the preliminary opinion presents an economic, financial and budgetary context.

The Court carries out an annual technical-legal analysis of the accounts of the President of the Republic and checks whether the main fiscal and budgetary rules have been respected in public expenditures, such as the minimum application of resources, required by the Federal Constitution.
