TCM will audit cemeteries under concession in SP – 05/27/2023 – Panel

In the coming weeks, the Municipal Audit Court will carry out an audit of the 22 cemeteries granted to the private sector by the City of São Paulo. The exact date is yet to be defined.
Seventy auditors will inspect the cemeteries and present a balance sheet on the same day. The private initiative took over the cemeteries at the beginning of March, and the concessions have a term of 25 years.
In the audit, they will have to identify whether the commitments in the concession contracts have been adequately fulfilled in terms of criteria such as preservation, cleaning and requalification of the sites.
Earlier this month, TCM inspected two cemeteries and visited two others. In these actions, the auditors pointed out problems such as open and vandalized tombs, scattered garbage and debris, lack of delimitation with neighboring communities, lack of accessibility, among others.
Report by Sheet showed that after the concession, the prices of funeral services rose by more than 400% for those who are not entitled to gratuity.
