TCM-SP creates list for interim vacancy after Nunes refuses to nominate – 05/29/2023 – Panel

The Court of Auditors of the Municipality of São Paulo sent Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) a list of ten names for him to choose one to occupy the position of interim councilor of the court, who will occupy the place of Maurício Faria, who retires on Tuesday. -Friday (30).
Nunes has to choose a name to replace Faria, and, as the Panel showed, the current favorite is Marcela Arruda, municipal secretary of Management, who would become the court’s first female counselor. However, Milton Leite (União Brasil), president of the City Council, has been telling allies that he had an agreement with the emedebista according to which he would appoint the next councilor and that it is being breached.
The nomination comes from the Executive, but has to be approved by the Legislature. While the definition does not occur, an interim occupies the position. He needs to be chosen by the mayor from a list of ten names drawn up by the TCM.
In view of this, TCM sought out Nunes so that he could suggest a name of his choice to be placed on that list. Edson Aparecido, Secretary of Government, was quoted for the position.
The mayor has been a strong critic of TCM and, given the tense relationship, he turned down the offer and said he would not nominate a person for the list. In this way, TCM sent this Sunday (28) its own list.
Two former members of the Nunes administration stand out: Maria Tereza Gomes da Silva, municipal attorney and former coordinator of the revision of the Master Plan and current chief of staff of the TCM presidency, and Luis Fernando de Camargo, former controller deputy general and current sub-chief of the court’s legal advice.
Carlos Macruz Filho, Daniela Cordeiro de Farias, Elio Esteves Junior, Helane Cabral, Maria Angélica Fernandes, Ricardo Panato, Rubens Chammas and Zilma Ferreira dos Santos also make up the selection.
