The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, stated this Monday (4) that he intends to send the tax reform regulatory projects to the National Congress in March. According to Haddad, all that is missing is an agreement between the states and municipalities on the Goods and Services Tax (IBS).

“Our idea is to send it in March. We are depending a little on the work of the States and municipalities that we made a commitment with them to send with the federal issue, if not completely resolved, well advanced to facilitate the process in Congress”, he declared.

Congress concluded voting on tax reform in December last year. Furthermore, the government leadership must define other priority themes on the economic agenda. The expectation is that the president will hit the hammer on sending a bill for the gradual reinstatement of 17 sectors of the economy.

The minister informed that he will participate, this Tuesday (05), in a meeting with Lula and Senate leaders at Palácio da Alvorada, for further negotiations.

The minister’s announcement was made this Monday morning (4), before meetings with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the general director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, and the president of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Jin Liqun. At the meetings, issues such as “international financing” and “alignment of IMF quotas” were discussed.
