Tatiana Weston-Webb wins gold medal at Pan – 10/30/2023 – Sport

Tatiana Weston-Webb won, this Monday (30), a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago. The Brazilian surfer had a difficult final against Canadian Sanoa Dempfle-Olin, but managed to turn things around in the final minutes of the heat and triumphed.

In her last wave, the 27-year-old from Rio Grande do Sul achieved a score of 7.33. In the sum of her two highest numbers, she got 12.33. Dempfe-Olin had 10.13 and had to settle for second place in Chile.

“Next year we have the Olympics. And [a onda] it will be a big left like this one. So, it was good training for next year. It’s an honor to always be on my team’s side representing Brazil and fighting, alongside them, for more achievements,” he said.

Held in Viña del Mar, surfing earned Brazil three other medals at the Pan, all silver. Chloe Calmon (women’s longboard), Aline Adisaka (women’s standup) and Luiz Diniz (men’s standup) lost their finals and came second.

Izabela Rodrigues, for her album release, won gold. The 27-year-old from São Paulo achieved 59.63 m in her best attempt and was followed by another Brazilian, Andressa Morais, who registered 59.29 m and took silver.

There was also a triumph in judo. Samanta Soares, 30, beat Puerto Rican Sairy Colon in the 78 kg category decision, with a waza-ari. Rafael Macedo (90 kg) won the silver medal. Kayo Santos (100 kg), Beatriz Souza (78 kg) and Rafael Silva (100 kg) took bronze.
