Deputy leader of the Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicans) in the Legislative Assembly, state deputy Guto Zacarias (União Brasil) proposed, this Wednesday (10), the creation of a CPI to investigate alleged irregularities at the Padre Anchieta Foundation, which manages TV Cultura.

For the CPI to be installed, it needs the signature of 32 state deputies. The request would still have to go before other commissions of inquiry that were filed before — something that Guto says is possible through the convincing of party leaders and the decision of the Board of Directors.

“Recently, we have had several reports of irregularities in the management of the foundation”, says the CPI’s justification. According to Guto, there are suspicions of misuse of public money and irregularities in the election of the entity’s board of trustees. He doesn’t detail any of them, however.

“It is important to remember that the Padre Anchieta Foundation is maintained with public resources, as shown in its balance sheet, that is, it is a necessary measure to ensure that these resources are used in an efficient and transparent manner, meeting the interests of the population and promoting a quality service” , the justification also says.
