Tarcísio releases land for housing in São Sebastião – 03/09/2023 – Panel SA

The government of São Paulo edited two decrees this Thursday (9) that free up areas for construction of popular housing in São Sebastião. The spaces total almost 40 thousand square meters, in the Baleia Verde neighborhood.

According to the text signed by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), the properties will be built just under a kilometer from Praia da Baleia, a prime spot in the region.

CDHU (Housing and Urban Development Company) will be responsible for expropriating the space and building construction.

As shown by Sheet, the Municipality of São Sebastião complains that, since 2009, it has been asking for inclusion in the popular housing programs of the São Paulo government. In 2020, a project to build 220 housing units of Minha Casa Minha Vida was blocked by residents of Maresias on the grounds that there was a lack of infrastructure to meet the demand for affordable housing.

On the last 25th, the government signed a decree to liberate a land of 10 thousand square meters in Barra do Sahy, one of the areas most affected by last month’s rains. According to the Municipality of São Sebastião, eight other plots of land are in the process of being cleared in Maresias, Barequeçaba, Topolândia and Vila Sahy.

The plan is to build 900 properties, including houses and buildings of up to four floors.
