Tabata will ask for Nikolas to be removed for transphobic speech – 03/08/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Federal deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB-SP) will send a complaint to the Ethics Council of the Chamber of Deputies against federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) for allegedly committing the crime of transphobia. Along with the PSB bench, the parliamentarian will ask for her mandate to be revoked.

Nikolas went to the plenary tribune this Wednesday (8) to speak about Women’s Day. When taking the floor, he put on a wig and mocked the existence of transgender women.

“Today I feel like a woman. Deputy Nicole”, she said. “Women are losing their space for men who feel like women. For you to have an idea of ​​the danger of all this, they are wanting to impose a reality that is not reality,” she continued.

“Either you agree with what they are saying or, otherwise, you are a transphobe, a homophobe and prejudiced”, he added. The deputy already responds to a lawsuit in court for a transphobic speech made against deputy Duda Salabert (PDT-MG).

For Tabata Amaral, the speeches made in plenary violate the freedom of speech that is guaranteed by parliamentary immunity. “Brazil is the country that most kills trans people in the world. The second is Mexico, which does not have even half of the cases”, says the parliamentarian. “We will not tolerate such violence in the House of the people.”

In 2022, Nikolas was the most voted federal deputy in the country. He easily led the race for the Chamber in Minas Gerais, with 1,492,047 votes – second place, André Janones (Avante), had 238,000, and third, Duda Salabert (PDT), 208,000.

Although expressive, Ferreira’s vote does not surpass that of the most voted federal deputy in the country’s history, Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who in 2018, still for the PSL, received 1,843,735 votes, easily surpassing the 1,573,642 votes obtained by the previous record holder, Enéas Carneiro (Prona-SP), in 2002.

The miner was part of President Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) entourage on a visit to Arab countries in 2021, and was barred in September of the same year when trying to enter Christ the Redeemer without proof of vaccination.
