With at least a week of delay, the leaders of the Senate concluded this Wednesday afternoon (8) the agreements to define the commands of the permanent committees of the House, in addition to the Mixed Budget Committee (CMO), which in this legislature will be chaired by a senator. Presidents and vice-presidents of seven collegiate bodies were elected by acclamation of their members, confirming the dominance of the group linked to re-elected president Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) and the exclusion of the opposition, led by senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), which sought the Presidency of the Senate.
The subtitles of the Vanguarda opposition block, formed by PL, Republicans, PP and Novo, the third largest in the plenary, even tried to at least stay with the Science and Technology Commission (CCT), indicating the name of the former minister of the area in the government Jair Bolsonaro Marcos Pontes (PL-SP). But they ended up losing to Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), who also overcame the candidacy of Izalci Lucas (PSDB-DF). Faced with resistance to negotiating, opposition senators abstained from voting.
After the nominations made by the leaders of the party and block benches, the presidency of the CMO went to Senator Daniella Ribeiro (PSD-PB), from the party with the largest bench in the House, with 16 senators. The Services and Infrastructure Commission, initially reserved for the MDB, was taken over by Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM).
As predicted, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) will resume the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), the most important in the House.
Humberto Costa (PT-PE) was elected to the Social Affairs Commission (CAS), Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO) to the Economic Affairs Commission (CAE), Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) to the Foreign Affairs Commission ( CRE), Paulo Paim (PT-RS) for the Human Rights Commission (CDH), Leila Barros (PDT-DF) for the Environment Commission (CMA), Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) for the Inspection and Controle (CFC), Flávio Arns (PSB-PR), Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil-MS) for the Agriculture Commission (CRA) and Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA) for the Senado do Futuro Commission (which will have its name changed to Defense of the Democratic State). It remains to define the Public Safety Commission.
Humberto Costa said that the thesis of the constitutional principle of proportionality, defended by the opposition, cannot be observed due to the dispute for the Presidency of the House. “The big deal gave way to confrontation, unfortunately,” he justified.
In the Chamber of Deputies there is still no agreement on the definition of the commissions.
