The Lula government admits that it will have great difficulty ending Perse (Emergency Resumption Program for the Events Sector), created in 2020 during the pandemic. One of the reasons is the non-partisan character that the program has acquired in the Chamber since its conception.

It was authored by deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), but was co-authored by federal deputies of various ideological stripes. The range goes from Bolsonarists such as Bibo Nunes (PL-RS) and Rosana Valle (PL-SP) to the current Minister of Fisheries, André de Paula (PSD-PE).

In justifying the creation of the project, one of the arguments was the mental health of business owners and workers in the events area.

“We observe recurring problems such as depression and suicide among people in the sector on a daily basis. Parliament needs to be sensitive to this issue and this urgency”, says the text.

For several parliamentarians, the conditions that led to this dramatic situation have not yet been fully resolved, even after the end of the health crisis.
