For the president of the STM (Superior Military Court), Joseli Parente Camelo, the decision of the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes to investigate in civil justice the former aide-de-camp of the Presidency Mauro Cid was “very well founded” .
Former right-hand man of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Cid is a lieutenant colonel and was arrested last Wednesday (3) on suspicion of tampering with the vaccination records of the former president and family members.
Joseli states that military crimes are those against property under the administration of the Armed Forces, against the military administrative order or those that challenge hierarchy and discipline. This is not the case, according to him.
However, if Mauro Cid is sentenced to a sentence of more than two years, then he will undergo a trial at the STM to assess whether he remains worthy of exercising military functions. Ultimately, he may be removed from the Army.
