STF defines sentence for five more defendants convicted of coup acts

Sentences range from 13 years to 16 years and six months in prison
The plenary session of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) defined the sentences of five more people convicted of the coup acts on January 8, between 13 years and 16 years and six months in prison, when the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília, were invaded and vandalized. 
The defendants had already been convicted last Tuesday (7), when the trial ended in the virtual plenary of the Supreme Court, in which ministers vote remotely, without direct debate. However, at the time there was no consensus on the dosimetry of the sentences – the calculation that leads to the final sentence.
On Friday night (10), an average decision was published, which weighed up the different understandings, resulting in the final penalty. All five defendants were arrested at Palácio do Planalto, red-handed, by the Military Police.
Each was denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for the crimes of armed criminal association, abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage and depredation of protected Union assets.
With these additional convictions, the number of people convicted by the Supreme Court for involvement in the undemocratic acts of January 8th reaches 25.

- Fabricio de Moura Gomes, 45 years old and originally from São Paulo; received a sentence of 16 years and six months.
- Moisés dos Anjos, 61 years old, from São Paulo; sentence of 16 years and six months
- Jorginho Cardoso de Azevedo, 62 years old, from São Paulo; sentence 16 years and six months
- Rosana Maciel Gomes, 50 years old, from Goiás; sentence of 13 years and six months
- Osmar Hilbrand, 53 years old, originally from Minas Gerais; sentence of 13 years and six months
