Deputies criticized the slow pace of rebuilding the bridges that collapsed two years ago near the Curuçá and Autaz-Mirim rivers.

Manaus (AM) — In the Plenary Session, this Tuesday (5), at the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), the debates revolved around the terrible traffic conditions of the BR-319 (Manaus – Porto Velho), whether about the “middle section” ”, which needs paving work, or in relation to the slowness in rebuilding the bridges that collapsed two years ago, close to the Curuçá and Autaz-Mirim rivers.

State deputy João Luiz (Republicans) brought the topic up for discussion, when he lamented about two rollover accidents that occurred on the highway, showing the images in plenary.

“This weekend I received photos of an overturned truck and a bus that was completely stuck, putting the lives of people traveling along BR-319 at risk. The bus spent two days waiting for help, which came from a truck that pulled it out of the quagmire. This is unacceptable. We cannot remain silent in the face of this”,

declared.

In an aside, the president of the Legislative House, deputy Roberto Cidade (UB), spoke on the topic. The parliamentarian reinforced the importance of Aleam deputies coming together to restore the highway.

“It is regrettable to see what the population of southern Amazonas goes through, having to wait two days with an overturned car, without having anyone to help. We feel embarrassed when people from other states say that we are isolated and seeing scenes like these. We have to come together, ask for more agility from the Dnit in rebuilding the bridges, demand a work schedule and, finally, see the paving of BR-319 off the ground”,

he emphasized.

Also on the topic, deputy Sinésio Campos (PT) recalled the end of the work of the Federal Government’s BR-319 Study Group and suggested a Public Hearing with the group’s members, together with the Dnit board, to demand a forecast of the completion of works.

When speaking, deputy Rozenha (PMB) lamented the neglect of the North region.
“The truth is that Amazonas is seen as an area of less importance to the rest of Brazil”, he lamented.

Representative Thiago Abrahim (UB) classified the isolation situation in Amazonas as absurd. “It is unacceptable that the largest consumer market in the region, which is Amazonas, is not interconnected with the other states via land. We need to make the Federal Government aware of the importance of BR-319,” he stated.

Deputy Commander Dan (Podemos) recalled that he recently passed by the sites of the collapses and noticed few workers in action on the construction sites. “If there were an accident in the South or Southeast of the country, these bridges would already be rebuilt,” he said.
