Yuri Romão, president of Sportsaid that the club is working alongside the authorities to find those responsible for the attack on the bus belonging to the delegation of Strength.
“Since the incident with the Fortaleza bus, we have been preparing a notebook with issues that we will address in the coming days. This includes the banning of fans involved or who have a police investigation underway”, he said in participation in the Sportv editorial team.
“Our database is already talking to the database of the state’s Secretariat of Social Defense. In addition, the placement of facial biometrics, which we had already purchased and is being used on Ilha do Retiro, but as in the first semester we are sending the matches to the Arena, there is no such technology there. This will all help to inhibit these gangs, because they are not fans”, he added.
Romão also made a point of making it clear that the club has no relationship or ties with Sport’s organized fans. The president reinforced that he does not give tickets or provide space in the stadium for these fans.
“From now on, at the administrative level, we are going to restrict it even more and do what we can do, because I will not admit any more acts like this. This is tarnishing the club’s image and having a financial impact, because no sponsor wants to have their name attached with attitudes like this”, he added.
This week, Sport issued a letter asking for the exclusion of 34 club members, as well as a disciplinary and administrative penalty of impediment for them, who have a history of crimes in stadiums and public squares.

Fortaleza calls for “severe punishment”
“I think that, above all, there must be severe punishment. With all due respect, Sport’s organized fans have a history of this practice of violence and Fortaleza was another one, the worst of all. I think the lack of punishment they didn’t receive on other occasions, he made them commit an attack against us and, if they were not punished, they will do it again”, said Marcelo Paz, CEO of Strengthalso participating in the program.
Paz commented that the club broke with those organized last year. In 2023, Leão do Pici fans fought among themselves in the visiting sector of the Neo Química Arena.

As an example of the search for peace in the stadiums, Marcelo mentioned that Fortaleza is asking its fans not to go to Paraíba to watch the clash with Botafogo-PB. “The possibility of a fight is high. Today, Fortaleza advocates not having our fans at Sunday’s match, look how absurd. Our priority is peace in the stadium, in football.”
Paz also commented on how the players are doing after the bus attack. He said it’s impossible to measure the emotional and physical consequences his athletes have had.
“We have injured players who will certainly not play on Sunday in the Copa do Brasil – a match that would have been today, but was postponed. We have Galhardo away to take care of his mental health, because he recognized that he was not fit to play and asked to be removed “Other players may be shaken in some way, but we will only detect this on a daily basis, when there is the next game and they have to catch the bus for a game away from home. There is no way to measure that”, he reported.
