The Legislative Assembly of the State of Amapá (Alap) resumes its activities after the parliamentary recess, starting the Legislative Year of 2024. The opening session was led by the president of the House, deputy Alliny Serrão (União), and took place in a solemn manner, both in-person and hybrid.
The inaugural session, in the ‘Deputy Dalto Martins’ plenary, featured a reading of the message from governor Clécio Luís, addressing the state’s situation and measures of interest to the government.
With the end of the parliamentary recess, the Amapá parliament also reopens the agenda for meetings of permanent and thematic committees, solemn sessions and public hearings. The first ordinary session of the year, with the Agenda and voting on bills, is scheduled for February 6th, Tuesday.
2023 Balance Sheet
The opening of the Legislative Year 2024 marks the beginning of the second legislative session of the IX Legislature, which had a first year of intense production. In 2023, Alap broke a record for projects processed, with 4,156 indications, 3,876 requests, 1,190 motions, 63 legislative decree projects, 13 resolution projects, nine complementary law projects and seven constitutional amendment proposals (PEC).
124 ordinary sessions were held, including 11 itinerant ones, in addition to 11 public hearings, 18 solemn sessions and various activities of the Women’s Attorney’s Office, Ombudsman’s Office and Legislative School.
2023 Highlights
With regard to legislative achievements, over the past year, 374 bills were approved, of which 197 have already become laws and are in force. The active role of the Women’s Attorney’s Office in combating domestic violence stands out, promoting 11 events and carrying out 24 consultations with 20 women undergoing psychological listening.
The Ombudsman’s Office, in turn, answered approximately 208 calls and participated in 12 events, playing an active role with the population of Amapá. The Legislative School was not far behind, holding 26 events and delivering 1,479 certificates throughout the year.
The parliamentary committees were active, meeting 104 times during the year, including nine technical trips to municipalities and participation in two fairs outside the state. The deputies, in turn, were involved in the five meetings of the 2023 Amazon Parliament and were present at six events of the Union of Legislators and State Legislatures (Unale).
Also noteworthy is the installation of the Catholic Parliamentary Front, which participated in six events, demonstrating commitment to caring for Amapá society.
