Society is proud of Lula-Tarcísio union, says Kassab – 02/23/2023 – Panel

Government Secretary of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) and president of the party that occupies three ministries of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) administration, Gilberto Kassab (PSD) says he believes that society is proud to perceive the joint work of the municipal administrations, state and federal to face the consequences of the historic rains that hit cities on the coast of São Paulo since Saturday (18).

The death toll reached 48 this Wednesday (22), in addition to 36 missing and 2,500 away from home, homeless or displaced.

“It is a tragedy in which everyone is showing a lot of responsibility and public spirit. The three governments, municipal, state and federal, are working in a completely integrated manner, and the results are slowly appearing”, says Kassab.

“It’s a good path, there is a great deal of recognition from society, which is very proud to see this joint action by all. Civil society, government, public administration in general, the media. It shows the true spirit of Brazilians: welcoming, supportive , generous”, completes

According to Kassab, everyone involved is very convinced that this is not the time for “political, partisan actions or electoral projects.”

“There’s a lot to do, and that doesn’t make it possible to put differences on a priority level. Now the main objective is to unite everyone for the recovery of the area, preservation of lives. This is a major concern for the state and the country” , he adds.

Kassab says he respects the restrictions of some Bolsonaristas and PT supporters on the approximation between Tarcísio and Lula to face what happened, but that he believes they are minority demonstrations.

“Throughout my public life, I have matured a lot, and I try to respect everyone’s opinion. Democracy presupposes respect for everyone’s ideas and thoughts. the convergence of actions so that we can face this common denominator that is tragedy”, concludes the former minister.
