“He pushed me from behind and tried to hit me. He hit me a little, the truth is I wanted to hit him, but that shouldn’t happen here, I hope they punish him [como exemplo]. I was surprised, I never fought in my life, but I know how to defend myself”, explained the goalkeeper, to Movistar.
The aggression was not shown on television, but fans present at the stadium recorded the invasion of the fan. In addition, photographers captured the sequence of scenes of the moment.
After the fan was tackled by the goalkeeper, teammates arrived to help and security took him off the field. The aggressor was taken off the pitch to loud boos from the stands.
Sevilla was beaten 2-0 in the match, but advanced to the next stage after beating PSV 3-0 in the first leg.
