Former senator José Serra (PSDB) participated in an event at the City Hall of São Paulo this Monday (17) and was honored by those present. Announced by Gilberto Kassab, government secretary for Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) and president of the PSD, Serra received a standing ovation from the audience.
The toucan, who was mayor of the capital (2005-2006) and governor of the state (2007-2010), was present at the presentation of new secretaries of the Ricardo Nunes (MDB) administration.
In his speech, Kassab described Serra as a great leader and the best prepared public figure of his generation in Brazil and listed the positions occupied by the toucan throughout his trajectory: president of UNE, senator, mayor, governor and minister of Health.
At the ceremony, Nunes officially presented Gilberto Natalini as Executive Secretary for Climate. He took over from Antonio Fernando Pinheiro Pedro, who was exonerated after claiming that the planet “save itself” from global warming and criticizing the scientific consensus on the subject.
In addition to the former councilor, Nunes confirmed three other names: Luis Felipe Arellano, in Finance, Edsom Ortega, in Special Projects, and Milton Vieira, in Housing.
