Senator Plínio Valério (PSDB-AM) asked the Federal Police to verify the authenticity of the video and audio related to the controversial statement by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, at a political event of the National Union of Students ( UNE), in which he claims to have defeated Bolsonaro.
According to the parliamentarian, the audit of the content circulating on social networks and in the press since July 12 is necessary in view of the “seriousness of the speeches” and for which the minister “should be held accountable”. In the video, after being booed by nursing professionals, Barroso speaks: “this is the democracy we conquered. We defeated censorship, we defeated torture, we defeated Bolsonarism”.
Plínio Valério has been, since the beginning of his term, one of the main critics of the political activities of STF ministers, even defending the impeachment of ministers who go beyond their duties. On several occasions, the senator condemned judicial activism for considering it aggressive to the Constitution, which also empowers senators to prosecute and judge ministers of superior courts for crimes of responsibility.
