In addition to Palmeiras, who won the Campeonato Paulista by defeating Santos 2-0 this Sunday (7), other state championships also had their finals this weekend.

Flamengo won the Campeonato Carioca this Sunday (7) after beating the surprise Nova Iguaçu (who eliminated Vasco in the semi-finals) in the second game of the final, 1-0. The goal was by Bruno Henrique.

The team led by Tite piled up chances and could have created a more elastic score, but the score was more than enough. On aggregate, 4-0 for Flamengo in the decision against the Baixada Fluminense team.

In the first match of the final, on Saturday (30), Flamengo won 3-0, with two goals from Pedro and an own goal from Ronald.

The former coach of the Brazilian team thus wins his first title with the Rio team. He arrived at the club in October last year.

It is the 38th time that the club, the tournament’s biggest winner, has won Carioca.

In Minas Gerais, after a 2-2 draw in the first match of the decision, the title went to Atlético-MG, who beat Cruzeiro this Sunday 3-1, coming from behind.

Cruzeiro, who was playing for another draw, as they had the best campaign during the championship, opened the scoring, in the second half, with Mateus Vital. But Saravia, Hulk, from the penalty spot, and Gustavo Scarpa, scored for Atlético-MG and gave the title to the team led by Gabriel Milito. It is the club’s fifth consecutive state title win.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the title went to Grêmio, who beat Juventude 3-1 on Saturday (6) — the first leg had been 0-0.

Gilberto opened the scoring for Juventude at the start of the match, but Cristaldo and Diego Costa, with goals that were less than two minutes apart, turned things around for Renato Gaúcho’s team before the break. At the end of the match, Nathan Fernandes scored the third.

It is the seventh time in a row (since 2018) that the club has won the tournament. If they beat it again next year, they will equal a record held by rival Internacional, which won the eight Gauchos contested between 1969 and 1976, but which is currently on a fast and has not won the cup since 2016.

In Bahia, there was victory. This Sunday’s match was at Fonte Nova, home of rival Bahia, and ended 1-1. Wagner Leonardo opened the scoring for Vitória, and Everton Ribeiro equalized. All in the first half.

Also in the initial stage, the home team had one less player, Andrade, who was sent off.

Last week, Bahia, playing at Barradão, opened 2-0, but came from behind. The match ended 3-2 for the rival, and it was this advantage that gave them the cup this Sunday.

In Santa Catarina, the champion was Criciúma, who will play in Série A of the Brazilian Championship this year. The team drew 1-1 with Brusque on Saturday, but had won the first match, last week, 2-1.

Ceará won its 46th Cearense Championship on penalties, after two draws (0-0 and 1-1) against arch-rivals Fortaleza in the decision. The title interrupts a streak of five victories for the rival, who won all tournaments between 2019 and 2023.

In Pernambuco, Sport won the cup. They won the first leg, against Náutico, 2-0 last week, and drew goalless this Saturday.

In Mato Grosso, Cuiabá won the state championship for the fourth time in a row. União Rondonópolis won both games in the final 1-0.

Still in the Central-West, Atlético-GO won the Goiás championship after beating Vila Nova twice in the decision. It was 2-0 last week and, this Sunday, 3-1. The champion’s goals came from Luiz Fernando and Emiliano Rodríguez (2), while Alesson scored for Vila Nova.

Other champions decided over the weekend were CRB (AL), who beat ASA de Arapiraca in the final, Altos (PI), who beat Parnahyba, on penalties, União (TO), who beat Tocantinópolis, and Ceilândia (DF) , who also beat Capital on penalties.

Saturday and Sunday were also decisive on the A2 do Paulista. On Saturday, Velo Clube, from Rio Claro, held on to a 0-0 draw against Juventus and, as they won the first game 1-0, secured their place. The team returns to the main state division after 45 years.

On Sunday it was the turn of Noroeste, from Bauru, to beat Portuguesa Santista on penalties after two draws (0-0 and 1-1) and take the second place.

The promotions have a curious feature: in the first phase of A2, the eight best placed clubs qualify for the knockout phase. Velo was seventh, and Noroeste, eighth.

The clubs will replace Santo André and Ituano, relegated, in the 2025 Paulista.
